Much of the time, Josh doesn’t seem to be aware of what others are going through. By others I mean those of us that live with him, or have lived with him for the majority of his life, and family members that he sees on a daily basis. Sometimes it seems like he’s completely oblivious that we are people…with feelings, and likes and dislikes. It’s totally like he’s Horton and we’re the Whos, before he could hear them.
Then every year as we get closer to the holiday season, it’s like he wakes up and is aware of who we are, and knows exactly what we are interested in…and he somehow knows our likes and dislikes. I have no idea how he does it, but it happens every single year!
He takes his money and thoughtfully chooses gifts that reflect who we are as individuals. Sometimes he gets us things that we need, but most of the time he finds things that match each and every one of us so well that we’re caught off guard by its significance. And every time it happens my heart grows 4 times its size, just like the Grinch…but I have whiter teeth and friends…so maybe nothing like the Grinch, but it feels really stinking good!
I hope you all had the opportunity to feel that good this holiday season. Now put on your fat pants and let’s make 2018 beg for mercy!
