About the Josh has Autism Podcast: I never know what he’s going to say. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s insightful, and sometimes it just doesn’t make any sense at all. So, of course we should record it all, and call it a podcast!

Just a thought … has Joshua ever been evaluated for ADHD? I am a 68-yr old female and I was diagnosed with ADHD 3 years ago, and Autism -Level 1 just two months ago. Dr. Ned Hallowell describes the ADHD brain as a swiss-cheese brain, which explains the variability and unreliability, and I know this to be true in my own life. So maybe swiss-cheese brain is part of autism as well, or maybe Joshu has some form of ADHD in addition to Autism. And we cannot predict how big and where the brain holes will be at any point of time … hope that makes sense … and maybe Joshua COULD FORCE HIMSELF more to act, even when he does not feel able, but remember that will be at the expense of STRESS LEVELS … I think it has to be a negotiation between you and your Son IN THE MOMENT as to which must take priority – the task or the stress reduction – and then you both have to agree to buy into the result of that conversation every time it happens – give and take, where Mom cannot be the only one to give and Joshua the only one to variably dictate the terms of what shall transpire …
